What's the Validation Stage?

Modified on Thu, 02 Nov 2023 at 06:39 PM

The Validation Stage is the stage of a performance review process located between the Review Stage and the Feedback Stage. In Rankmi, validating means approving or rejecting a performance review done by a reviewer with the goal of guaranteeing the quality of the assesssments through the figure of an user called 'validator'.

The validator is an user that can check and validate all of the assessments done by a reviewer or just specific reviews done to a specific reviewee.

Types of validations

Common/Hierarchical validation

A hierarchical validator is the one assigned to a reviewer in order to check the results of the assessments done by them and accept or reject them according to their criteria.

If you want to know more about the hierarchical validator, please see this article (in Spanish).

Matrix validation

A matrix validator is the one assigned to a reviewee in order to check the results of the assessments done to them in different review categories and accept them or reject them according to their criteria.

If you want to know more about the matrix validator, please see this article (in Spanish).

Setting up the Validation Stage

To access the configuration of the validation stage, please follow these steps:

1. Go to Configuration inside your process.

2. Click General Settings.

3. Click Validation Stage.

4. Activate Validation Stage.

Once the stage is activated, you will see the following options:

  • Show by group: The validator will see all of the reviews they need to validate grouped by reviewer. At the same time, these assessments will be grouped in matrix validations and hierarchical validations.
  • Show by list: The validator will see all of the reviews they need to validate individually, without being grouped by reviewer. When choosing this option, the admin will also have the chance of activating the visualization of results using a 9-box or a distribution graph.
  • Validate just once: If this option is enabled, the validation cycle will end after the assessment goes under validation just once, not mattering if it's accepted or rejected. If this option is deactivated, reviewers will be able to send their reviews through validation multiple times until they are approved by the validator.
  • Validation is not mandatory for Feedback: If enabled, managers will be able to access the Feedback stage of their reviewees even if their reviews haven't been approved by the validator. If this option is deactivated, reviews must be approved before continuing to the Feedback stage.
  • Validator can see reviewee's self-reviews: If enabled, an additional column will appear for the validator in the list view of assessments with the results of the self-reviews of the participants.
    • Note: This setting is not compatible with Show by group.
  • Email settings: Different options to configure the sending of notifications through emails during this stage.
