A domain in a performance review process is a group of competencies that is used to assess participants.
The most common domains are Performance and Potential.
In order to create competencies (abilities to assess) and then behaviors (questions/statements to measure these competencies) it is mandatory to create a domain first.
Example:
- Domain: Performance.
- Competency: Communication.
- Behavior: Can express their ideas with clarity.
Create a domain
1. Inside the process, click Configuration.
2. Click Competencies.
3. Click List of competencies.
4. Click Massive actions.
5. Click Create a domain.
- Code: The unique code of the domain that must end with a number. It can't contain special characters or spaces. Example: performance_4567 (name of the domain + process number)
- Section or tag: Name of the section under which the domain will be grouped. It can't contain special characters or spaces. Example: performance
- Domain properties (Domain by default): Indicates if the domain is the default one or not. It's important to note that objective and goals will automatically be associated to the default domain, and that performance review processes can only have one domain by default. If you will assess performance and potential in your process, we advise you to select the Performance domain as the default one in order to have objectives and goals associated to it.
- Name and description: Must be entered in every available language of the process.
6. Once you are done, click Save.
7. The domain will be created under the Select a domain or a form section.
Once you have created your domain, you must create a competency and then a behavior in order to continue with the implementation of your performance review process. We advise you see the following articles:
